Based on the South Quay of Whitstable Harbour, against a backdrop of fishing boats, nets and lobster pots, the Whitstable Fish Market sells a wonderful variety of fresh, sustainable fish & shellfish in Whitstable's historic harbour.

Our Sourcing Policy

With around 14 privately owned boats operating in the waters off Whitstable, practising sustainable methods of fishing and unloading their catches just a few feet from the market, the Whitstable Fish Market's sustainable seafood policy has been endorsed by the Marine Conservation Society.

The long established Whitstable Fish Market, is a seafood lovers dream - fresh fish & shellfish, home smoked seafood and Whitstable Oysters. The market is in the process of sponsoring some of Whitstable's local boats to take part in the SEAFISH Responsible Fishing Scheme which promotes best practice in fishing methods, sustainability & working practices at sea.

A Vibrant Market

Seafood lovers can enjoy the freshest fish or shellfish to take home, or enjoy the pick our fantastic shellfish counters whilst taking in the industrious yet captivating whitstable harbour. During the summer months, the fish market also adds to the humdrum of the harbour with fantastic barbecues, showcasing locally sourced products wherever possible. If you're in town, drop by and see the range on offer, including the famous Whitstable Oysters.

Location

The Whitstable Fish Market's easy to find, as the Harbour's a popular spot, especially in the summer months, when it plays host to many of the town's main community events. The harbour itself is well worth a visit - the fish market was once the site of The Crab and Winkle line's goods sheds - reputed to be the world's first passenger railway, which linked the harbour to Canterbury.
