Whitstable's comedy festival Long known for its community of artistic and creative types, Whitstable's soon to play host to its very own comedy festival known as The Whitstable Winkle, organised by residents Steve Graham and Ashley Watson, and in the words of the organisers, “It would be great if we could entertain the performers and their families as well as the audiences. Everybody loves Whitstable, the setting is absolutely right for a proper festival of laughs. Everyone says they thought of this first, but we’re going to make it happen.” |
Locations Since Whitstable's a small place, the events will be spread throughout the town's venues, so that there's always something happening, and people can enjoy the atmosphere while getting to see more of Whitstable than they might otherwise. This little seaside town's got charms enough to occupy its wide range of visitors, and adding a backdrop of comedy and fun is just the icing on the cake. |
When is it? The Whitstable Winkle is a four-day event running from the 18th - 21st September 2008. This is the event's first year, and the organisation has been going on for quite a while. The organisers plan to run the festival annually, and it will be held just weeks after The Edinburgh Festival, allowing the performers to rest after a very busy schedule and then 'ease back in with a weekend at the seaside.' |
