Introducing The Pearson's Arms

Independently owned and run, The Pearson's Arms prides itself on the quality of its food and wine, with an elegant, relaxed atmosphere overlooking the sea. This 18 th Century listed building is back in local hands, sympathetically refurbished, and offers unparalleled views of Whitstable's famous sunsets from its dining room.

As Well as being a renowned seafood restaurant, The Pearson's also serves a range of dishes for discerning vegetarians and carnivores alike. With Chef Rob Taylor's emphasis on what's best in modern and traditional mainly British cuisine, The Pearsons' resurgence has fast gained it recognition as one of Whitstable's top restaurants.

Sourcing

The menu is seasonal with a sourcing policy which favours local suppliers, and therefore the freshest of ingredients. With Whitstable's working fishing harbour nearby, the shellfish is always fresh, and The Pearson's has taken great care in selecting the finest local farms for its meat, poultry, and vegetables.

The Chef

Trained at The Tenth, Royal Garden Hotel, London, head Chef Robert Taylor worked in Australia for two years after a brief time at Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons under Raymond Blanc. Now back in the U.K, Robert's passion is exploring and rediscovering the full range of modern and traditional British cuisine.

Wines

Together with wine consultant Clive Barlow, one of a handfull of Wine Masters in the U.K, The Pearson's Arms has put together a wine list to complement and expand on its diverse menu. Clive Barlow's clients have included Waitrose, Sotheby's, Whitbread, London Wine Academy and Adnams as well as a number of private and business clients for whom he sources wines and advises on cellaring, and he is a senior judge for the internationally prestigious and independant Decanter World Wine Awards and Wine International.

Location

The Pearson's Arms is a stone's throw from the sea, right in the heart of Whitstable, and its dining room offers arguably the best views overlooking the sea. It's location marks the original landing site of Thames Barges to Whitstable, and is known as 'The Horsebridge', where the old cobbled jetty would allow goods to be transported from the waiting boats on horseback.
